Toy Soldier Collector Timpo - Plastic Figures

Timpo - Plastic Figures

Review taken from 'Fantastic Plastics'

In Plastic News I announced that these long established figures will go out of production in 2009, so I am taking the opportuinty to remind readers of what is in the ranges before they go. A few years ago Toyway brought what they described as the best of Timpo and Lone Star, two pioneers of plastic figures, back into production. They came in both unpainted and painted sets. One of my favourite sets was 43503 Plains Indians, originally made by Timpo. Ok, some of the poses are anatomically impossible, but the musculature and chiselled faces really look like Native Americans. With eight figures in eight poses in a box selling for around £3, they are a real bargain, and offer excellent conversion material too. Other sets are Cowboys, ACW, Waterloo, Medieval knights, WWII Anzacs, Afghans and a couple of bands.

Quite different are the painted sets of ‘Ceremonial Guards’, eg #43101 four Guardsmen and a sentry box. This has an officer and two parade figures, but more surprisingly a guardsman firing too, something rarely seen in ceremonies fortunately. Other painted sets are a single guardsman and sentry box, and Heroic Battle Masters medieval knights. There is also a castle, knight’s tent, Indian tepee, Gatling Gun and Field Piece.
