Toy Soldier Collector Little Legion - The Great Escape

Little Legion - The Great Escape

Review taken from 'New Releases Part 2'

The title of this new set could well be misleading to some, for starters it’s got nothing to do with WWII, or Steve McQueen and his motorbike, but is in fact part of the Little Legion Zulu Wars range. As we’ve mentioned before in this magazine Mike Norris, owner of Little Legion, has become famous over the last 10 or so years for producing high quality gloss Napoleonic and Zulu War figures and accessories and this latest set fits in with the latter of these two ranges.

Previewed for the first time at the London show this new set features a scenic base on which sits a supply wagon with a Zulu tied to the wheel. His mate, who was also tied up (note the rope still around his wrist), has managed to get himself free is currently in the process of dealing a final blow to a member of the 24th Foot. Another member of the 24th Foot has is fast approaching but no doubt a little too late to save his comrade.

This is yet another lovely set from Little Legion and ones which shows off Mike’s skills for thinking up something different to keep collectors interested. The normal sets from Little Legion feature two or three man foot sets or single mounted pieces so it’s great to see Mike doing something a little different with this larger vignette style piece.

As I’ve come to expect over the years neither the sculpting nor the painting can be faulted on this set, with both being sharp and well detailed and priced at around £95 it’s also good value for your money.
