Yeomanry Miniatures - World at War Series - Staff Car & Personnel

Review taken from 'New Releases Part 2'

Having announced his return to the production of toy soldiers at the last London show of 2010, and given the encouraging response to the news from collectors, Brian Harrison has been quick to react and build on the many inquiries that he received back in December.

A mark of how successful his impeding return to full time production has been is the fact that as a result of his presence at the show and the subsequent posting of a number of photos of his excellent figures on the Treefrog Forum a reprint of his catalogue/figure list is now required and the rest of 2011 will see the release of a number of brand new figures across the whole Yeomanry range.

First off the production line is a new Staff Car that combines the talents of master sculptor Alan Caton and the modelling skills of Dave Love of Mountford Miniatures. Dave has been responsible for the master sculpt of the vehicle while Alan has concentrated his efforts on the car’s occupants.

We featured the prototype of the car last issue and here is the finished painted piece, a truly marvellous example of the military modeller’s art, with even the famous car company’s logo being picked out in detail. While some parts of the car will be metal such as the wheels, running boards and windscreen etc, the main body of the vehicle will be made from resin. This will help keep the development and production costs of the car down and by the same token make the retail price of the whole set more affordable. A number of individually sculpted figures will also be produced to compliment the car and it’s four passengers. The driver, an aide sitting beside him half turned in his seat talking to a general officer who is sitting behind the driver, leaning forward with one hand cupped behind his ear listening to the aide. Sitting next to him is another aide with a brief case on his lap.

Discussions are also on going for a second car to be released at some point in the future that will feature a completely different set of passengers which are likely to include slightly altered poses and dress and could well be either getting into, or in the act of alighting from, the vehicle.

A number of other new figure releases are planned over the coming months, all of which will be reviewed by your favourite toy soldier magazine. Also look out for a new fully illustrated catalogue of the Yeomanry figure range soon, while a brand new website will be launched which will feature the whole of Brian’s excellent range of figures, both new and old. As listed last issue this new staff car is £75 for the castings or £120 for the painted model as shown here.
