Toy Soldier Collector Casting around May 2013

Casting around

Paul Stocker looks at the latest castings to arrive on the market

Sarum Soldiers
19th Century Furniture

Patrick Willis has embarked upon a very interesting project aimed at providing an extensive range of 19th century furniture suitable for a wide variety of interior settings. The period to be covered is roughly from the end of the Regency period up to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and beyond. Some readers may remember a range of furniture produced by Phoenix for the 18th century many years ago. If there is a positive response from customers, the range will eventually make it possible to create realistic interiors for anything from a large country house (Downton Abbey anyone?) to an urban or suburban villa, or from a regimental mess to a Southern plantation or Wild West ranch.

Seven of the first twelve releases are shown here and all are available either as castings or painted gloss. Not shown are a billiard table, a fireplace, a pair of armchairs, a chesterfield sofa, and a set of accessories such as those shown on the sideboard. Pictures of all the items should be on Patrick’s website by the time you read this.

Prices obviously vary according to size. For example, castings for the occasional table cost £4.95 (£8.95 painted gloss), castings for the tallboy bookcase cost £7.95 (£14.95 painted gloss). Post and packing: UK 10%, EU 15%, Overseas 20%. There is a minimum value of £10 for orders.

I must apologise abjectly to Patrick and readers for quoting old contact details for Sarum Soldiers when I featured Patrick’s ‘Officer’s Mess’ castings in issue 48. The correct details are below.
