Mountford Civilians

News item taken from 'Noticeboard'

In December, Mountford’s WWII theme is continued with a British street scene during the Blitz. A mobile NAAFI wagon is serving tea and buns to a group of civil defence workers, ARP Wardens and the like.

This scene of fortitude by the civilian population will be further enhanced with the release of a shop and pavement set. The shop depicted will be typically British and undamaged, a first in this field on both counts. It is hoped that this will be part one of a series, with the aim being to provide at least a couple of buildings that can serve as the back drop for almost any collection from Victorian times through to the present day. The Humber NAFFI Wagon Master will come complete with a mixture of civilians taking advantage of the refreshments on offer while a female will be included in the set inside the vehicle dispensing the cups of tea etc.

Part two, due to be released sometime in 2010 hopefully, will include another shop with an Emergency Fire Tender, and there might even be a third release although no definite details on this were available at the time of writing. As already mentioned, when displayed together the buildings will provide a backdrop for any figure collection from the Victorian period through to the present day, it should be noted that the theme for this range is very much first and foremost The Blitz. However, that said the shop will be available to be purchased separately from the other pieces in this new range if it’s just that which catches your eye.
